Fernwood Rising

Meet the band

Fernwood Rising is a Country/Americana band whose powerhouse harmonies and honest lyrics evoke memories of honeysuckle summers and mossy oaks. Hailing from Spartanburg, SC, the band has five members. The two frontwomen, Laura-Clare Thevenet and Taylor Miller (lead vocals and rhythm guitars) met in their freshman year while studying together at Converse University. After discovering their uncanny similarities and being mistaken for each other numerous times, the duo became fast friends and decided to start playing music together during college. After the pair graduated, Fernwood Rising was born, and they were joined by their most recent addition, drummer, Houston Garrett.

FWR's influences include Fleetwood Mac, Miranda Lambert, Megan Moroney, The Steeldrivers, Maren Morris, and Chris Stapleton.

Their covers give a refreshing spin to classic songs while adding their signature harmonies. Fernwood Rising’s originals are filled with emotional lyrics and impactful melodies that will remain in your mind long after. Lyman Guitar Company praises the band for sticking to their roots stating, "Fernwood Rising covers it all from nostalgic folk rock to sweet country melodies, this group is nothing short of soulful, honest, and authentic artistry.”
